This has been a particularly special year for me; a year of growth, peace and joy. Along with growth comes new habits, which, hopefully, will bring pleasure into one's life. So, I am writing now while having my afternoon tea, one of my new pleasurable habits. I am taking time to enjoy the simple things in my life.

I have always loved dyeing eggs for Easter. Each year, I still pile the eggs I've colored into a beautiful old basket, embellished with a gorgeous bow. A few antique rabbits placed around the basket add to the fun. I had a wonderful time painting The Easter Egg Hunt. I love all the soft pastel colors used on the canvas and will keep this painting for my collection.

A visit to Nantucket will remind one of the scene in Jamie's New Sailboat. The island is truly magical, reminding me of a time so long ago. Jamie is proud of his toy ship because it is like his father's big one. Brave men traveled in small ships to far away places, bringing home beautiful treasures. I happen to be fond of the treasures those ships brought back to our shores, so I have never refused spending a few hours at an antique auction!

I enjoyed painting farm animals and children in several of my paintings this year. I think perhaps children and animals are actually my favorite subjects, followed by flowers. One simply can never have too many flowers. Blooms, whether large or small, are always placed next to my palette, during the summer and especially on a snowy day.

Alas, my cup of tea has grown cold while writing, but I will indeed make another! I hope life has been kind to you and to those you love, and that you will find great joy and peace.
